Is it Old & New Covenant…or Dead and Resurrected Covenant? What does Paul Teach? How can the facts be so well documented and clear, yet Christianity has such a divided opinion on the truth? Perhaps it is not the facts that are the problem, but our paradigm.
We need to clear up some common misunderstandings about the concepts of an old and a new covenant. The Apostle Paul goes into great detail clarifying how we should view both covenants.
We will see this prophetic pattern with the Israelites that were saved from Egypt. The first generation is associated with death and the second generation is associated with resurrected and ascended life. This first generation is associated with the Messiah and the second generation is associated with the image of the resurrected Messiah and the Resurrected Covenant.
Do you realize Paul’s testimony centers around the resurrection of the dead? What have we been overlooking in regard to his testimony about the Resurrected Covenant? The prophetic image, pattern, and fractal shows that the Messiah is resurrected, the world is resurrected, and the covenant is resurrected! Life is given to all stones!
By the conclusion of this study we will understand why Moses and Elijah appear with Yeshua on the Mount of Transfiguration and then disappear! We will also see the prophetic tie between the shattered tablets of stone that the covenant was written upon and our divine purpose. God is raising up rocks to the glory of His manifested name!
Matthew 3: 9, And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.
Then we will examine how the Countenance of God is associated with the removal of the first covenant (the Written Torah of Moses) which was initially coupled with death and judgment, and then is joined with resurrection of the covenant (the Written Torah of Moses) under the administration of the Messiah via grace and abundant mercy. We will do a close examination behind the veil of Moses and evaluate what these images mean prophetically in regard to the Messiah.
SCRIPTURAL PATTERNS & FRACTALS:
The Apostle Paul teaches that we can learn about the hidden wisdom of God if we only pay attention to His images, patterns, and fractals that appear in the natural world.
Romans 1: 19, Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. 20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
All we need to do is pay attention to what we see, hear, and observe to become wise in the hidden things of God.
Hebrews 5: 11, Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing. 12 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. 13 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. 14 But strong meat belongethto them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
Are the things (manifest images) of nature happenstance or are they all by interconnected design? The answer will be self–evident. A mystery is only hidden so long as we cannot see the pattern, image, and fractal. Once we see the pattern we will understand how it’s parts are interconnected and what they mean. The mystery is then revealed to us. This is why God is so aggrieved by those who do not hear.
Matthew 13: 11, He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given. 12 For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath. 13 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. 14 And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive: 15 For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them. 16 But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear. 17 For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.
What is a parable? It is a story of imagery that presents hidden meaning only to those who have senses that are refined and mature. They may glean the hidden truth that is reserved for those who have a heart that is ready. Be sure to take note of how this is connected to the prophecy of Elijah and having “eyes to see and ears to hear”.
We are about to discover the wonder of the resurrection. This study will show the repeating image, pattern, and fractal of death and resurrection and clarify whether or not the New Testament is different from the Old Testament.
We will find this repeating image in the scriptures.
· The Messiah is resurrected.
· The people are resurrected.
· The covenant is resurrected.
The pattern and image repeats itself showing the glory of God manifested. Most Christians agree that the breaking of the tablets given by God at Mt. Sinai shows the annulling of the first covenant due to the people’s disobedience. Subsequently God required a new set of tablets, which are representative of our hearts under the new covenant. We might question, what is written on the new set of tablets?
Exodus 34: 1, And the Lord said unto Moses, Hew thee two tablets of stone like unto the first: and I will write upon these tablets the words that were in the first tablets, which thou brakest.
The very same covenant and the very same words that were on the first set of tablets are written on the new set of tablets. The only changes were 1) the location, stone versus our hearts and 2) the administrator, the manifested Name of the Lord, YHWH.
The first covenant is under the administration of condemnation and judgment (death), the second set of tablets is under righteousness and grace/mercy (resurrected life). The new administrator is Yeshua (the Name of YHWH made manifest and declared). We will examine the scriptural facts to determine if these statements are true.
We also need to reconcile another issue. Modern Christianity’s testimony is that the Law of Moses (called the Torah–the first 5 books of the Old Testament) is done away and that we do not need to keep it. Yeshua clarifies His position on the Torah (the Written Law of Moses). He says, the Law of Moses (the Written Torah) is not done away.
Matthew 5: 17, Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. 19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
Notice Yeshua is talking about the ultimate purpose for His coming and the final act of crucifixion and resurrection. Any attempt to lump this statement into just “fulfilling law” while He was “under law” so that His final act could do away with the Law of Moses simply holds no logical water.
If they hear not Moses…
Yeshua also taught that the testimony of Moses and the prophets was a sufficient witness to provide salvation to the people. If they did not listen to Moses and the prophets, they would not listen to Yeshua, someone who rose from the dead.
Luke 16: 19, There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: 20 And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, 21 And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. 22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; 23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. 24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. 25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. 26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence. 27 Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father’s house: 28 For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. 29 Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. 30 And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent. 31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.
Yeshua says via this parable that the Law of Moses and the Old Testament prophets are sufficient testimony for salvation. But, the Written Law of Moses states that His covenant people are not to listen to anyone who teaches people not to keep the Torah. How do we reconcile this paradox if modern Christianity’s teaching that the Law of Moses is done away is accurate? The Law of Moses says that those who turn away from the Torah are cursed.
· Deuteronomy 29: 18, Lest there should be among you man, or woman, or family, or tribe, whose heart turneth away this day from the Lord our God, to go and serve the gods of these nations; lest there should be among you a root that beareth gall and wormwood; …21 And the Lord shall separate him unto evil out of all the tribes of Israel, according to all the curses of the covenant that are written in this book of the law: (See also Deuteronomy 28:15, 45,)
· Deuteronomy 13: 1, If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder, 2 And the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve them; 3 Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the Lord your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul. 4 Ye shall walk after the Lord your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him. 5 And that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams, shall be put to death; because he hath spoken to turn you away from the Lord your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed you out of the house of bondage, to thrust thee out of the way which the Lord thy God commanded thee to walk in. So shalt thou put the evil away from the midst of thee.
Yeshua must support the Law of Moses since He said via a parable that Moses (symbolic of the Torah) and the Prophets (symbolic of the call to repent and return to the Torah) are sufficient testimony for salvation. Moses told the people to ignore those who do not teach obedience to the Torah. What does this mean?
Keep in mind it was the manifest Name of YHWH who gave the Torah to Israel. So Moses, YHWH, and Yeshua must always agree. If we cannot reconcile this apparent paradox then we are still confused over “Grace versus Law” (Torah). Either Yeshua supports the Torah, or by His own words He has condemned Himself by saying that Moses and the Prophets are sufficient testimony for salvation.
