People search for truth…and that often means rejecting commonly held beliefs. But what is the method we use for validating truth? How do you know you haven’t given up one false idea for a new false idea? We can use what God has given us, the patterns of nature and the Bible. 

Preterism has become more popular lately. What is Preterism?

“Preterism holds that the contents of Revelation constitute a prophecy of events that were fulfilled in the first century.” (Wikipedia)

Several Youtube teachers, like Don Preston and Zach Davis, essentially teach that the Kingdom of God was established during the First Century and at the Destruction of the Temple. They believe that the rule of Christ for 1,000 years (Millennium) has already occurred, that Satan was bound for that time, and we are past the Millennium and into Satan’s “little season” (Revelation 20:3). 

They base their teachings on the pillars that the “time of the end” was referring to the end of the Old Covenant (Matthew 5:17) at the destruction of the Temple in 70AD, and all of the references in the Book of Revelation referring to the “Earth” (70 references in the Book of Revelation) actually pertains to the “the Land” (erets: Earth, land, ground, country, of Israel, אֶרֶץ). They don’t bother to explain the many scriptures that contextually show it is talking about more than just the “Promised Land”… but actually the “whole earth” (Revelation 5:6). 

Essentially, they are indicating that all prophecy from Daniel and the Book of Revelation occurred by 70AD at the destruction of Jerusalem. They say the Kingdom has come and gone already.

What is the event that is soon to occur that will soundly defeat this notion? The prophecy of the He-Goat and the Ram of Daniel 8 will show that “the End” could not have occurred in 70AD nor did the “end” reference the abolishment of the Torah.

It’s terribly simple. The time of the End, per the Angel speaking to Daniel, will start at the fulfillment of the Battle between Persia (Iran-Ram) and “Greece” (either Turkey or the USA Empire-He Goat). 

Daniel 8:16, And I heard a man’s voice between the banks of Ulai, which called, and said, Gabriel, make this man to understand the vision. 17 So he came near where I stood: and when he came, I was afraid, and fell upon my face: but he said unto me, Understand, O son of man: for at the time of the end shall be the vision. 18 Now as he was speaking with me, I was in a deep sleep on my face toward the ground: but he touched me, and set me upright. 19 And he said, Behold, I will make thee know what shall be in the last end of the indignation: for at the time appointed the end shall be. 20 The ram which thou sawest having two horns are the kings of Media and Persia. 21 And the rough goat is the king of Grecia: and the great horn that is between his eyes is the first king. 22 Now that being broken, whereas four stood up for it, four kingdoms shall stand up out of the nation, but not in his power. 23 And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, a king of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up.

The Angel is incredibly specific and repetitive. Gabriel tells Daniel 3 times this Ram and He Goat Prophecy will happen… “at the time of the end”, “in the last end”, “at the time appointed the end shall be”. He can’t get any clearer. Now if Preterism states that the Kingdom of God happened back in the First Century all you need to do is look at history and see there was no conflict between Greece and Persia back in the First Century.

Hence, “the End” did not happen in the First Century at the destruction of Jerusalem. All you need to do is let the scriptures speak for themselves. This Daniel 8 prophecy is a transition prophecy detailing when “the End” and the coming of the Fourth Beast (Revelation 13) is about to commence.

Because many prophecy teachers have ignored the instruction of the Angel Gabriel, they have relegated this prophecy to fulfilled history and Alexander the Great. Now I won’t debate that Alexander was seed fulfillment of what is about to happen now in fullness. But this event must happen before the coming of the Antichrist (who is the False Prophet) “at the End”. 

Some other prophecy teachers are now saying this He Goat prophecy is about to be fulfilled. The problem is they are still following unscriptural paradigms. Some are saying Israel is about to attack Iran (Persia) and others say Turkey (Javan) will do it. Others say the Sunni Muslims (Turkey aligned) will attack the Shia Muslims (Iran aligned). 

Here is the problem with this view. Turkey doesn’t have the military capability of fulfilling Daniel 8 in the way the angel explains it. Furthermore, Turkey is not a world empire as the imagery of Daniel’s Beasts are described. Nor is Turkey great enough to have one horn broken and have 4 come up in its place… then have the Beast (Revelation 13) rise from one of the horns. 

Furthermore, prophecy teachers need to explain the absence of the USA as a notable and influential player in Daniel’s 70th Week (7-year Tribulation). Also, you have to explain the absence of NATO during Daniel’s 70th Week. 

Why won’t prophecy teachers address this? It conflicts with their desire for a Pre-Tribulation Rapture. They can’t have the “Christian” world (USA & NATO) broken before the “end” even happens. They can’t have the largest Christian nations go through any of these events before they “escape” in a Pre-Tribulation Rapture. 

Now they don’t stop to think that Ukraine has gone through several years of terrible war and lost a generation of young men and God didn’t bat an eye. But they can’t psychologically bear the thought of it happening here. So instead of following the actual Bible they have modified their end time expectations to a more “profitable” teaching. 

If Damascus is shortly to be destroyed, I don’t think you will see Israel or Turkey attack Iran, but a far more likely candidate is the post WW2 USA Empire. 

Prophecy teachers need to address the logical contradictions of their popular prophecy scenarios and reconcile them to the scriptures… before being solidly labeled “False Teachers” (inaccurate teachers). Of course they won’t own up to that label. They will just modify their teachings and give excuses. Why wait… do it now!

Here’s a suggestion, bring this up to these teachers and ask them to explain themselves…you just might find their answers are not scriptural or logical. Learn to hear the lack of complete reconciliation of their arguments with the scriptures and logic.
